Painting on Old Books - Crafts a la mode

The Librarian by Giuseppe Arcimboldo is thought to have been painted between 1562 and 1566. The original is located in Skokloster Castle in Sweden. It is also thought that this painting is a portrait of Wolfgang Lazius, an Austrian humanist and historian who served Holy Roman Emperors of the House of Habsburg. The Librarian is one of a series of paintings Archimboldo completed of key members of the court he was serving.
